paestum

How much time should we allot to see Paestum?
is it feasible to do Paestum in the morning and the beaches of Cilento (Acciaroli, etc) in the afternoon?

I LOVED Paestum! Nevertheless, I think we could have covered it in about three hours. Don't miss the museum.

Hi is,

About a 1/2 day for Paestum.

The museum is very good.

There is a nice cafe at the corner where the road from the train station meets the site. Very good salada Capresi with home grown tomatoes and basil.

Ira (or anyone else):
How would you get there from Positano? Take the ferry to Salerno, then train down? How long does it take?

We hired a driver to take us from Positano to Paestum. I think it took a couple of hours, maybe more.

Mr. Go: We went from Salerno....hopped on a bus near the port and rode out to Paestum in about 40 minutes. It was very easy and convenient. The stop is right before the little cafe/grocer place that Ira is referring to. From Positano, you could take a boat down to Salerno, then take a bus out there. The main bus office is at the train station (just outside in front) so you could purchase your tickets, then walk the couple blocks down to the stop.

Hi go,

We took the ferry to Salerno. The dock is <10 min from the train station.

We then took the train to Paestum. On the way back we took the train to Salerno and the bus to Praiano, with a change at Amalfi, because the ferries were no longer running.

Either train or bus works.
