Oxford train station to hotel walkable?

Hello, I've been reading another thread about Oxford and a main road being closed. My question is about walking from the train station to a hotel. My current plan is arrive by train (coming from Moreton-in-Marsh) and have two nights over the weekend, in late June, at the Premier Inn (Westgate) next to the shopping centre. Then train to London for a few more days.

I assumed, possibly wrongly, that it would be a fairly easy walk from station to hotel but now I'm wondering. Will the area around the Premier Inn be noisy with construction? What would locals suggest - walk or taxi or change plans and see Oxford another time. Have visited before so it's not set in stone. Will be on my own with a medium case, used to a lot of walking.

The Premier Inn is about half a mile southeast of the station at the Westgate Shopping Centre. From what I understand from crellston's and bilboburgler's posts the road closeure/heavy construction is on and around Botley Rd -- completely different direction.

Still, it is an easy walk unless the pavements are crowded.

For sure. I should have specifically said that. The hotel is an easy 10 minute level walk from the station -- when you see the Marriott Courtyard you are just a minute or 2 away.

It won't be noisy with construction and it is an easy 10 min walk from the train station. There are buses that will take you from outside the railway station which take around half that time but of course you need to factor in waiting times so probably not a lot different. As you say, pack light!
