Thanks Underhill and gradyhost. It was the one in Verona I was trying to remember -- although the Rome one looks interesting!
I wish their opera season wasn't in the dead of summer though. I was hoping to catch something early September.

Actually the performances in Verona do not start until dusk which is around 9:15 pm. By then, things have cooled a bit, aided of course by any beverage you may have consumed in a restaurant in Piazza Bra before entering the Arena. Go for it! Gradyghost

It hasn't been totally updated for 2008, but it looks as though none of the open air venues goes on after 1st September.
