Hello wliwl:

Try:

We spent a week there two years ago. Fantastic experience. Gradyghost

Thanks Underhill and gradyhost. It was the one in Verona I was trying to remember -- although the Rome one looks interesting!

I wish their opera season wasn't in the dead of summer though. I was hoping to catch something early September.

Thanks again!

Hello wliwl:

Actually the performances in Verona do not start until dusk which is around 9:15 pm. By then, things have cooled a bit, aided of course by any beverage you may have consumed in a restaurant in Piazza Bra before entering the Arena. Go for it! Gradyghost

In fact, at the Puccini Festival , Puccini's operas are the only thing they have ;) But it is held in July-August.

Check Operabase - http://www.operabase.com/view.cgi?cc=it

It hasn't been totally updated for 2008, but it looks as though none of the open air venues goes on after 1st September.
