Oslo Airport to Hotel

I will be arriving at the Oslo Airport and staying at the Bristol Hotel. I am looking for suggestions for transportation options to the hotel. I am concerned about taking the train because we will have several pieces of luggage. Is the train station close to the Bristol? Does anyone have an approximate idea of what a taxi would cost? Also, I have been advised that we can take the SAS Flybus, but I am not sure what that is. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We took the flybus from the airport - and back from the hotel when leaving Oslo. Very convenient - maybe a 1 hour trip, depending on traffic. You can purchase your tickets from the driver. Buses are literally outside the airport arrival's terminal. Sit back and enjoy the ride-and the view. The train will be faster and you'll be able to catch a taxi to your hotel without any problem once you arrive in downtown Oslo.

Deb is right. In your case I would'nt hesitate on taking the SAS Bus. SAS stands for Scandinavian Airline System, and the airway compayny also run comfortable airport buses. If the bus does not stop at Hotel Bristol's main entrance, the stop will be at Aschehoug's Square, not more than 100 yards, probablyless, from Bristol.

If you take the train, the price willbe double, you'll have to drag your luggage down elevators/rolling stairs at the airport, and you certainly would need a taxi from the Oslo station.

Buses are very easy reached just outside the arrival hall. There are several bus directions, though,so be sure to get to the right one. No big deal. And there are many people to ask for the SAS or other buses.

Taxies are more or less fixed priced. My guess is some NOK 500 - 600 forthe ride.

Welcome to Norway and to a great hotel.

Bjorn, Oslo

So forget about the train

Thank you for the good info. It certainly sounds like the SAS Flybus is the way to go. We can't wait to visit. Arlene

Bjorn offered invaluable trip information when we were in the planning stages of our trip to Oslo last year. It's nice to 'see' you again, Bjorn, on the Fodor's board! I'm sure others will soon come to appreciate your indepth knowledge of Norway and all that your beautiful country has to offer. Happy Holidays!
