OSLO, NORWAY – Airport Express Train (Flytoget) from Oslo S to Oslo Airport

We are planning a trip later in the year which includes the train journey BERGEN – OSLO S. The train is scheduled to arrive at Oslo S at 17:32. We would like to fly to Stockholm the same evening and our flight would be at 19:25 (SAS). Are there any other airlines that fly this route? Another train to Stockholm is out of the question by the way!

My question is, have we enough time to get the airport and check in for this flight? Has anyone here got any experience of this journey? I understand from the Flytoget website that the train runs every 10 minutes and take only 20 minutes to get to the airport. So it looks to me that it is possible, but without knowing the size of Oslo S/Oslo airport and the ease of the journey, I am sceptical about booking this flight.

It seems that I can’t purchase advance tickets for the airport train as they are only available to addresses within Scandinavia (I’m in the UK). So we will have to go and buy tickets too, which will take up time. Is it worth registering for an e-ticket; are the machines right by the platforms?

Thanking you in advance.

If the train arrives at Oslo S on time, and you catch the airport express train immediately afterwards, then you should get to the airport on time. Buying a ticket is very easy once you get to Oslo S...

Thank you! Yes, it does seem that it's dependent on the train arriving on time. I'm guessing they are very efficient in Norway. Living in London, I am not too confident of trains arriving on time!

Oslo Airport is very small compared with any of the London airports, so getting through the terminal won't take long. The one time I departed from Oslo (back to London) with SAS, check-in took quite a long time. Can't say whether that was typical or not, though.

Norwegian also fly OSL-Stockholm. A low cost carrier. Just as good as SAS in my opinion ( if not better..)
norwegian.no to check out the times

Thank you both. Unfortunately Norwegian doesn't have a flight late enough for us (going by their Winter timetable for this year). I think I will check their website again when Winter 07/08 is published.
