Ordering a taxi in Paris
Hi Everyone,
We're here in Paris right now and need to order a taxi for Saturday morning from the Marais to Orly to pick up our lease car. We took the RER from CDG to St Michel and walked to our apt. But my DH's suitcase handle broke and our son shipped us our hiking boots so we have extra "stuff" right now which isn't a problem with car, but trying to navigate to Orly on our own will just be too frustrating.
Sooooooooooo, is there a taxi I can order online, a number to call? A shuttle? What would you recommend??? Thanks for the help as usual.
Take care,
Michele

Thanks djbooks,
I saw that company here on Fodors and with an English speaking operator, that gives me peace of mind. I will order from them tomorrow. It's good to have a referral too...not just blindly go with any company. You never know what you're getting.
Thank you,
Michele

Paris has a single number now you can call for any taxi company, and they relay it to the nearest free station, it is 01 45 30 30 30.
I don't think they speak English, though, I can't recall. They also ask you some questions about which station you are willing to accept or something, as I recall (if the closest one is buy they ask if you will go to and they name the station, or something like that). These are the taxi stations on the street with the call boxes that they call.

When ordering a taxi, the meter starts running when they get the call, not when they get to you.
We used bluevan shuttle and they were great. See: http://www.paris-blue-airport-shuttle.fr/index_en.php
We have also gone to Opera and caught the Roissy Bus that goes from Opera directly to CDG. The stop is behind Opera, on a side street. Look at: http://www.slowtrav.com/france/paris...sportation.htm

hi michele_d,
i don't want to alarm you but we had plans to use G7 taxis last year in paris ... called them the day before we needed to be picked up and found out that there were no more taxis available at the time we needed!
perhaps you can call earlier?
