Hello! I will be spending two nights in Dublin and would like people's feedback on the following hotels. Has anyone stayed at one of these? Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am looking for somewhere centrally located, good quality-price ratio. Thanks!

Charles Stewart Guest House
Clifden Guest House
Fitzwilliam guest house
Townhouse of dublin

I've seen favorable reviews of each place you mentioned in the guidebooks (they're also on Trip Advisor). I've stayed at the hostel attached to the Townhouse (they only share a breakfast room).

The place looks very nice...the breakfast is amazing and the breakfast room is spacious and cozy. Some people don't like the location north of the Liffey. I thought it was very convenient to O'Connell street and the new shopping areas over there. Some of the streets nearby are a bit dingey, but overall it's a very nice spot...expect a 10-20 minute walk to Trinity college.

I have stayed in the Charles Stewart and the Harding. Both are wll-located. The Charles Steward is right on Parnell Square just off O'Connell Street. The bus from the airport stops right in front of it. The Harding is opposite Christchurch Cathedral very near the Temple bar area. The Charles Stewart is very reasonable, i think about $100 a night or less, with old-fashioned but comfortable rooms. I would recommend it. The Harding is ok as long as you get away from the street. The rooms facing the street are very noisy all night. The Harding serves lots of tour groups and is often crowded as a result. I don't recall what it costs. Both serve fine breakfasts. I don't think you would go wrong with either, but given a choice I would take the Charles Stewart.

Here is my opinion as someone lliving in Dublin:

Harding Hotel - Excellent locvation and fine at night and near all the sights

Clifden - No Crappy area at night and too mant Hostels

Charles Stewart - Fine in Day but do not like area at night.

Fitzwilliam Guesthouse - Where is this I cannot find on the web??

Townhouse - I assume its Gardiner street and would asay No again like Clifden too many hostels in area and a bit seedy at night.

The Harding is fine except on a Saturday night when the pub is in full swing. Then it is noisy. Rick Steves tours do use the hotel. He supplies ear plugs to the people on his tours.

I just returned from Ireland and we stayed at Fitzwilliam guest house for two nights. It was recomended to us by a consult at Rick Steve's. I would not recommend it. It is out of the way. The room was shabby. The breakfast was bad. Worst of all an alarm went off at about 3am at a building across the street and it lasted for 45 minutes. The next morning we asked the receptionist about it, and she was honest and said it happened a lot and there was nothing they could do about it. We were booked at the Fitzwilliam again at the end of our trip and we canceled. We stayed at the Jurys Inn Christchurch for the same amount of money, it was in a better location, we felt safe at night. The breakfast was great! Everyone has a different view of places to stay, but the Fitzwilliam Guest House wasn't for us, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Am planning to book the Harding Hotel myself for Spring. I was in Dublin last October and had a chance to see the Harding while visiting Christ Church. We were stuck in a bad place and oh how I wished we had booked there. Met someone who had stayed there and they seemed happy about quality for price and location. Seem to recall the rooms being about 100Euro per room per night.

Any thoughts on O'Neill's Pub right across from the TI? I see they have rooms above the pub and was wondering...(Not concerned about noise, I can, and have, slept through anything!!!)

There are a few O'Neills pubs in the city. Does TI stand for Tourist Information? (ie O'Neills on Suffolk Street)? If so, then that location is great. Yes, it would be noisy - it's a busy road with a lot of buses/trucks going past and also because it's above a pub, but it's a fantastic location right in the city centre. Not sure what the rooms are like but location is excellent if you're not worried about noise.

Does the one on suffolk street have rooms?? I think its the other on pearse. I have not stayed here or placed family in here but there is a recebt review if you do a search. I think its fine but will be noisy in the mornings with Traffic. I would go often enough to the pub below and I like it as well

These days I am talking up the Adams Trinity hotel. I stayed there a couple of months ago and was very pleased. Excellent location (close to Trinity, to Temple Bar, to a TI office, the Aircoach bus stop, and Dublin Castle) and clean, comfortable rooms. Their website lists rooms starting at €95 but I booked through a third party site for 80.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and opinions. I`m still ironing out my itinerary. Will let you know what I finally decide on (cities and B&Bs)

we stayed at the Harding Hotel 3 years ago, great location, cheap, felt like a dorm room. we did have a front room and the bells from christchurch were fun..the first time. it was a weekend and very noisy. jury's around the block looked nicer, don't know for sure (it was booked).

only place in Ireland that we stayed that felt uncomfortable...like I was afraid to touch the covers and really wished I had a pair of shower sandals.

I would not return to the Harding. sometimes in big cities it is worth it to pay a little more...would be sure to pick a central location.

Just returned from Dublin and stayed at the Mercer Hotel. It's location is very good and the price was reasonable for Dublin (124 Euros/night). The rooms were spacious and the room price included breakfast. Construction is going on nearby which starts up about 8:30 a.m., if you are a late sleeper. Good luck!

We stayed at Stafford on the Green, St. Stephen's Green. It was great.

I checked the Mercer for my three nights Oct 10-11-12 and the prices went up just for thoes days to 260E a night. They mentioned something about 2 events being in town. So I cannot afford that.
