One night in Rome

We will be spending one night in Rome after returning from time in Paris. We are allowing ourselves 1 night so as not to have a problem getting our flight out the following day. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, recommendations about a hotel room. What would be a good location considering we are heading back home the following early afternoon. Thanks

You could stay at the Hilton near the airport and take the train into the city for your sightseeing.

With only one night I would prefer to stay in the historic center of Rome to experience the city in the best way. The plane doesn't leave early, so you will have time to get back out to the airport the day it leaves.

Nikki: Any recommendations? We are looking to stay prior to Paris in an apartment in Trastevere and have one that we are seriously considering and wonder if we should stay in a different spot for the last night. We arrive back to CIA at 8:00 p.m. so we really will only have time to get to the hotel and get dinner and then hang around the morning of the flight. Flight leaves at 2:50 from FCO.

I have no hotel recommendations as I only stayed in Rome twice: once in an apartment, and once in a hotel somewhat removed from the center of things. But I didn't realize you would be staying in Rome before your Paris trip. That probably makes it less important to stay in the center and makes the airport hotel sound like an alternative. If you do stay in central Rome, though, it would probably be fun to try a neighborhood different from the Trastevere one.

Nikki: I am also looking into apartment choices, would you recommend the apartment that you stayed in while in Rome?

This is the apartment I stayed in. The apartment itself was fine, but it was not as well supplied as others I have stayed in elsewhere. We did like the location, lots of things in walking distance.

Hi O,

We liked our overnight stay at the Holiday Inn EUR Parc Medici.

They have a free shuttle to the airport.

Very good breakfast, nice dinner.

Very popular with tour groups.

Next time, however, we will stay in Rome.

Hi I: I like that "O". Thanks for the advice. Do you know of any decent hotels near the railroad station?
