One day in Venice

Hello Fodor's Friends,
My 20 year old niece will be in Venice for one day and one night in June.
Do you have any suggestions for tours that will give her a good overview of the city?

Vaporetto from Train Station to San Marco. Visit the church. Ride a gondola ( a little expensive for one, would be good if could share with others ). Wander around

Take a public boat up and down the Grand' Canale during the day and especially at night when the ancient palazzos silently slip by - really one of the top things I've done anywhere - don't miss it.

They do shared Gondola rides s for a very reasonable cost. here are just two examples from the Viator site:
