Joan, We went to Reed last night. Catherine Reed is a lovely person and the food was great. I told her you were on a mission to get the word out and I shall certainly follow your lead in making Catherine a Fodors "poster child".

My daughter will go back after we leave with her "foodie" buddy.

Thank you for the suggestion--it was a perfect setting to reconnect with our daughter after so many months apart.

Alessandra,

I'm so glad that you had a nice time at Reed. Probably a good spot to be able to visit more with your daugher.

We had a great evening at Violon..then stopped into Cafe Constant for a Cafe Creme.

Just had a message from Florent..he says he feels like a zombie this morning...going to be a long work day for him!! I think he was a bit high last night!!

Will get to pics. They did have a rolled and tied menu for us and I forgot it. Just sent a message to see if they might have one for us. Wanted to take a picture of it for all to see!
a bientot..

Our Thansgiving at Violon was just wonderful...and we did have turkey for the main course.
The first item (amuse) was a little ravioli withfrog legs in a broth of some kind. The entree was scallops with truffle and a little green salad. The main course was roasted turkey with celery root purée. Our dessert was a pumpkin tart, followed by madelines (I think...too full to eat) and chocolats. We had a red and a white wine (Pouilly Fusee). I can't remember the red (at least not now wine was.

Florent and Michel are tons of fun-great guys.

I can't believe I'm looking at food pictures when last night I swore I'd never eat again, but I had to check in and see the Paris version of Thanksgiving.

It looks like everyone had a happy "bird day"----I especially liked the looks of the scallops.

Bonjour Joan,

Reading your posts is such a great way to start my day. Your Thanksgiving dinner looked wonderful, right from the 'get-together' to the last bite at the restaurant. Thanks for sharing your good times with us. It is such a pleasure to follow along.

printemps,

It is fun to do it this way! This thread has just been fun for all. Everyone is happy and interested in the same things. None of the hassles that seem to go along on the general posting. We are all learning from one another!

a bientot...

I have been traveling along with you for two years now and have been to a few of your favorites places in paris because of your wonderful pictures and travelog.

Enjoy the rest of your stay in Paris, also our favorite city.

Took my sister out for her birthday tonight. All your pics made me chose a French restaurant, of course. Hope your ears weren't ringing because while enjoying bottle of cliquot, we talked about your current adventures! We've already started planning our next trip...

I enjoyed your pictures of your Thanksgiving. It looked like you had a great time along with delicious food. I chose a restaurant in Houston called Philippe for our Thanksgiving Dinner. Yes, it is French!!!. I had scallops for my main and our grandaughter was the only one to choose the turkey dinner.

Joan,
I have been following along as well. We will be in Paris in September. I tried to google the contact information for Reed, but can't find anything. Do you have a phone number and address? We would like to add it to our list. Thank you! So glad you are having such a good time!

chutney,

Catherine Reed does not have a website. You will find several things if you google Reed restaurant, rue amelie, Paris. Her e-mail address is [email protected] telephone number is 01 45 55 88 40. Closed Sun/Mon.

It is a re-freshing new place.

Joan, Did you say somewhere that Catherine Reed had considered giving cooking lessons? I can't find that remark. Reason I ask is that my daughter here will get as one of her Christmas presents Paris cooking lessons for her and a guest. She and I had taken classes with Cooking with Class, and I thought I would just repeat that, but I think Catherine would be wonderful.

And yes, daughter also is getting as other present dinner at Violon d'Ingres for herself and guest. You have to tell me if I should splurge for the tasting menu though! Three courses were just fine, but...

AZ,

I think Catherine has had some thoughts of cooking classes. You might e-mail her and ask about it. Maybe your daughter could get a small group together and she would do one.
