Oh, goodie, I'm right here following! Thanks for keeping up your newsy and informative posts.

We're all ready for Part III. This thread has pushed my butt in gear to use my ff miles for next fall. Booked on Delta, paid $80 extra (each way) for an "Economy Comfort" seat. Worth it? Not sure yet. Did you fly on Delta or Air France, Joan?

Tagging so I can continue to follow along! :-)

gracejoan3 Nov 20th, 2011 07:22 PM

Hi Roberta,

This trip it was Delta. Yes, worth the $80. Don't miss that the head rest has moveable side wings that fold out to keep your head straight for sleeping. What are your fall dates? I will be using AF in Jan and will be tryhing their seats.

I see that Denise's flight took off almost an hour late, so will not be arriving until about 9....

Looks like another nice day ahead...

Denise and Chaz did finally arrive..a bit late, but without Chaz luggage. I'm sure Denise will be telling all.

We had lunch at Les Cocottes after a brief walk around the area and then they went to their apartment to get settled.

Invited them walk over to mine later...nearby....

I did take photos..will psot later

Oh no, I hope Chaz's luggage will meet up with him soon. That is always my fear, my luggage not showing up where I do! I usually do carry-on only, but for our trip in 2 weeks we planned to check bags for convenience. I'll be flying AirFrance and keeping my fingers crosses the bag arrives when I do! :-)

We'll be in the AirFrance premier voyager section so will repot on how that option is compared to the regular economy section.

LCI,

Denise will be telling the story on here soon, but it was strange. They both had identical carry-on bags and at the gate an AF person told Chaz that his had to be checked. They had some words about it and they took his bag for checking and did not bar code the ticket. The bag did not show up in Paris. They had the feeling his person did this purposely!!

I flew Delta with the upgraded seat..the best part was the head rest that you could curl it around your head.

I suggest you do as I always do. At the gate I go to couner and ask them to check to see if my luggage is on board!

I guess I better get our lunch pics...

That is strange. It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

It never occured to me to ask the gate agent to check on my bag, as I usually do carry-on only so haven't had to contend with checked luggage snafu's, I will have to try it this time. I'm concerned this time around because we have connections in Atlanta and CDG before arriving in Strasbourg, we do have 3-4 hours during each layover, but that's never a guarantee the luggage will make it onto the plane with me!

Loved your foie gras at Reed's! The potimarron (sometimes referred to as potiron) looked wonderful. It is the french pumpkin but has a slightly different taste, texture and shape from our regular pumpkin. The color seems brighter (at least to me).

Can't wait to taste some of the wonderful food you've been enjoying! Of course, can't do it all as we only have 2 weeks. We'll do what we can.

Can't wait to see the Christmas lights on the CE and avenue Montaigne. Do you remember how cold we were that night a few years ago but it will be worth it!

See you soon!!!

bisous,
Lilia

Joan,
Great photos at Les Cocottes. We can't wait to get there, eight days and counting!
Regarding the lights on the Champs Elysees. The best time we found to be there is when they initially turn them on. What a spectacular sight! Last year it was at 5 PM, in the years before that at 4PM, not sure what the timing is this year.
See you soon.

Yes, the potimarron color is deeper. I knew Lilia would know it all!

Lloyd and JoAnn that may be where you would like to go on arrival night?

Off to le Florimond this evening with Denise and Chaz. They will come by here first. Hope the luggage showed up today!

Hi all...we did get Chaz' bag today. Such a relief! Still PO'd at Air France for the ridiculous way they pull people out of boarding to measure bag. Both bags would have easily fit. I travel with mine weekly and never have an issue. That's the whole point of carryon luggage...not having the airline lose it! So it cost us 2 hours+ time and a lot of stress!

Looking forward to Le Florimond tonight with Joan. Will post T/R when we return. Great day in Paris today!

LowCountryIslander Nov 22nd, 2011 08:21 AM

Denise...good to hear the bag caught up with Chaz! Enjoy Le Florimond tonight. We have a reservation there (thanks to Joan for making!) for Dec. 8th and looking forward to the stuffed cabbage...it's delicious! :-)

gracejoan3 Nov 22nd, 2011 08:27 AM

Hi Marcy,

The stuffed cabbage is one of the items that they are well known for!

The weather is unbelivable. No coat needed this afrernoon. I did some flower shopping early afternoon and then went out again without a coat for some wine and a few things.
