Already have some plans in the workings for January. My local friends, Florent, Michael and Micheline have not been to Schmidt-l'Os a Moelle or Casse Noix. I would like to introduce them to both. They are all 3 excellent with their critiques.

a bientot...

Joan, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful time in Paris with us. Your love of this beautiful city has shone through in every post and your restaurant reports and pictures had so many of us drooling with envy.
You have been so generous with your time, making reservations for fellow Fodorites, meeting up with those lucky enough to be in Paris af the same time as you and being gracious enough to ignore rude posters who seem jealous of your good fortune.
Have a safe trip home, a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to more Parisian adventures in January.

Joan, Thank you so much for sharing your obvious love of Paris and food with us.
I am also a lover of Paris and your posts have given me new restaurants to try on my next trip in May. I always stay in the Marais and stay fairly local for dinner I am now looking forward to trying some new places.
Again thanks. Many wishes for a very happy holiday
Hopefully you will be in Paris next May when I am there and perhaps we can meet for lunch or dinner.

The soufflee at Schmidt's l'Os a Moelle is Chocolat aux sirop de cerises de Morelli (Morelli cherries come from Italy). The souffle was so light and the syrup is perfect - not too sweet! It was a great way to end a beautiful lunch.

The foie gras poele was melt in the mouth in every bite - Stephane really knows how to handle his foie gras. The wine poached quarter pear was just slightly spiced which reminds one of epice de Noel!!

Talked to my daughter right away as she will be spending Christmas in Paris with her husband (in fact, they are arriving today from Stockholm where they live) and she told me she has made reservations to Schmidts for next Wednesday (the 28th) and got one of the last 2 tables available for the week and to Violon on the 27th.

Joan and I had a great time - not enough time as I caught something early on the trip and Tom got ill the second Sunday which made him miss lunch at l'Obe.

Thank you, Joan for the great time and your wonderdul thread! I promise to be in better health next trip!!

Joyeaux Noel to you and to all who contributed to this wonderful reports, 1, 11 and !!!.

Bonsoir, Joan,

Today we dined at L'Obe and introduced ourselves to your friend Frederic. He was lovely and lunch was outstanding - the scallops with orange were incredible! We had a wonderful time and thank you so much for introducing it to us.

Tomorrow night is Le Florimound and next Violon for Christmas Eve.

Thank you again for your recommendations and photos !

Mimi,

I had to eat as much foie gras as I can. Good thing that Joan like them as much as I do. It will be illegal in California starting July 2012.

Brought some marrons glacees for my youngest one. She loves them and haven't been to Paris in a couple of years. I even brought her her favorite eclairs au cafe from Laduree. Luckily, the security in Paris did not confiscate that but they did take some of my cheeses. Too soft to carry on board, they said!!!

Beach Girl,

Glad you liked l'Obe and Frederic! Will look forward to hearing about Le Florimond and Violon for Christmas Eve.

I have to say that I feel as though I have not had a good meal since arriving home!!

Bonjour Joan!

Frederick was lovely and I wish we had time to visit L'Obe another time. There is always our next visit!

We were able to meet with Vicki for Christmas Eve at Violon - another Fodor's gtg! Conversation was very, very good and we closed down the restaurant. I just love the internet and Fodor's for introducing people.

It's been a lovely day in Paris - so warm for December!

For now, I have Berthillon ice cream (caramel & salted caramel) that needs my attention.

And, P.S., I love using the bus system now -- I don't know that I'll go back to the metro as it's so easy and great way to see Paris.

A bientôt from Paris!
Sheila

Ah, the coveted salted caramel! I tried the caramel (no butter salted caramel), and it was good but the salted butter caramel is too DIE for! So glad you got it BeachGirl!

Sounds like all having a good time. I don't think I have had a great meal since I have been home!

I will be leaving for Paris on January 22. I don't think I will be there for more than a couple weeks. I may be going to London for a few days, too.

a bientot...

Hi Joan, hope your Christmas was wonderful. We spent most of Christmas talking about how much we loved Christmas in Paris last year! You will barely get unpacked before it's time to go again!
