Judy...

From what I've read FL is "a play" on the French pronunciation of Eiffel. Right now I can't recall the exact street name, but it's a street off Rue St. Dominique not far from Cafe Constant.

I believe they do not have a website, I read about it on one of the "zillion" Paris food blogs I came across while doing trip research.

Judy...It is FL..pronounced effel (or close)

1 Bis Rue Augereau 75007 Paris, France
01 45 51 06 04

It is practically next door to Cafe Constant, on Augereau. It is the former place that that old gal had for many years..completely gutted and changed...small place.

I will take pics tonight, of course.

Marcy you are right around the corner from everything!!

Joan, thanks for the info re parisperfect. The apts all do look wonderful - and I can see how you'd get spoiled
It's so true that once you master the buses, the metro is toast! They are so much nicer than underground and much easier on the knees - no stairs! That's one of the reasons I really liked staying near avenue Suffren - so many buses are available there.

Glad to hear something here about FL, too. Like LowCountry it's one of many I've heard of on the food blogs.

Anxious to hear how it was, Joan!

Thanks for the information on FL.....don't know how I've missed it in my constant Paris research! We'll have 3 weeks in 2012 and will definitely put it on the list.

HI,

Just got home. Will post photos in morning. Food was very good, but service was worse than bad. Not for lack of caring but for lack of help. No way that this one gal could take care of 24 people!!We had to ask for our water after we had finished our starter! Accoustics are bad and it was noisy..but so are some other popular places. Not a place to go for a cozy meal!! a bientot..Joan

Hi
joan an i just returned from our dinner at FL. I had a great dinner. It was very noisy ,as is small. There only one waitress and she was not able to be very attentive. She was very sweet, but was too much for one girl!!
i had a nice day today. I took the bus to Luxembourg Gardens. It was a warmish sunny day, There is an area for meditation and thai chi. Quite interesting! A very peaceful ,pretty place for a picnic lunch.
I rode the bus for two hours as got on the wrong bus. It was a nice tour of the city.
Tomorrow we are ging to President Wilson Market. Hope for another sunny day!

a different way to serve

partridge ( not in a pear tree!) Very, very good

was said to be sweet potatoe..thought more like squash

Sue had the veal

Sue’s dessert

Too bad re the service which would turn off many! Easily solved by hiring another person! If they want to fill all 24 seats they will need to provide the service. I will try it for lunch and see how that goes. If full it will have to be the same.....

a bientot....

Hi Jim,

Guess I forgot about that. A good spot, other than the lack of help..perhaps only on weekends!

We are off to Schmidt-l'os a moelle for 9:30 reservations. Know it will be good!

a bientot...

Bonjour..

I know you are waiting for this! We took the bus and a taxi back.

The restaurant had obviously been full and the Cave across the street looked busy, too. A younger crowd over there, it seemed.

The niceness of the restaurant and the quality of the food I felt should have had people more caring in their dress. Don't know if it being the lower 15th or not, as you are seeing this all over now, more and more!

The quality of the food was as expected..great! The service was excellent. Stephane's wife takes care of the front and appears to be able to handle it well!

Stephane was very visible with his customers, stopping at every table. He will do well....I will be returning before I leave in December..and with friends!

Schmidt – l’os a moelle

A little onion flavoring

My soup with scallops..as good as it looks!

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...0_00032-25.jpg

A vegetable mixture..Sue did enjoy!

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...00_0004-39.jpg

Scallops, mashed potatoes, mushrooms…we both had same! Good, Good!

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...0_00052-21.jpg

Desserts! I had fis..ice cream..different and good!

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...00_00065-3.jpg

Sue could not resist the soufflé!

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...00_00074-5.jpg

Enjoy!!

a bientot...

Hi Roberta,Denise...

Yes, I went for lunch early upon my arrival..and dinner was a must do. Will get Michael and Florent to go, too. I know they will enjoy. Stephane has been the chef at Violon for so long that you knew it had to be good! You will want to add to your list.

Sue went off to the Vallee outlet and will not be back until about 6:30..we decided to play it by ear tonight...who knows what we might find!!

a bientot....

I had a great time at La vallee outlet . I organised it thru Cityrama . I took the 12:30 bus there and a 5o pm return. It is very upscale with mostly designers. It is very popular and well kept. It was 22 euros for a round trip. A well worth adventure. There is a nice food court with lots of choices. Dinner last nite wa so,,,, good,
just got back from Cafe Constant. They are always so good. It is hard to think about leaving the neighborhood ,when Christian Constant is a few blocks away. I had grilled shrimp and profiteroiles with chocolate sauce. It cant get any better.

So funny because I bought a Gerard Darel handbag at BHV in Paris last July. When I went to the department store's detaxe department, the employee told me if I was interested in other items I should go to the outlets at la Vallee!

How is the shopping/prices there, sue?
