Denise,

I have not been to JCD in several years. Often hear that the food good, but service leaves something to be desired!

Yes, The scallops at Pottoka were excellent, but then with Fables being sister restaurant, they would be. Fables is excellent, if you like seafood.

Asheville friends have now rented an apartment first half of June. I have picked up a l'Indispensable, 3 plans for them, the metro/bus map and will go over some things for them to do/see etc. when I get home..like Introductory tour at Louvre and a candlelight evening at Vaux le Vicomte. I can make dining reservations for them when I am in Paris March-May. They are already very excited!

Sue departs today from Minneapolis and will arrive in the morning. I will meet her and we will do some things until her apartment is ready and make some dining decisions!

a bientot....

Sue arrived this morning and we went down to Florent's and had a bit of breakfast..did quite a bit of chatting and then I took her to some of 'my' places, picked up a carnet of tickets and map for her and then went to office and chatted while waiting for apartments to be ready. Mine was ready first and so Sue came with me to look it over and then she went back for her apartment greeting. I am settled in and chatted with her and she likes her cozy spot!

We are going to Cafe Constant tonight..at 7, of curse. Tomorrow night it is Casse Noix and today we made a reservation for Friday night at FL...

Never a dull moment!!

We went to Cafe Constant last night. Sat downstairs..my preferred area to people watch. Well, we had the wierdest couple next to us..He just sat and stared at the table most of the time..did not order..she was a real witch...talked and talked and laughed and laughed, all to herself, I guess. Gave help and all a hard time..glad they were not Americans!!

You can easily see why it can be difficult to leave the area for dining! A bit grey and a fine mist earlier, but warm. Don't know where all Sue was off to for the day. We dine at Casse Noix tonight!

Here is last night....

Café Cobsant with Sue..some items you have seen before as I have eaten them before!!
This was mine

I had a wonderful day riding the bus and shopping. Paris is quite the city for people watching. I bought several different kinds of macaroons. I must think that i plan on having quite a macaroon tasting. I think Laduree are the best.

Great photos! When I did a cooking class there in September, Chef Eduardo made the pumpkin soup and the apple tart, both of which I've made at home. I haven't tried the foie gras stuffed quail yet (not sure that I ever will.....seems easier to return to Paris and order it!)

Once again you're making me hungry, Joan!! Guess there's no choice but to go back to Paris. Meanwhile, I will continue to enjoy your marvelous photo-journalism.

Just wanted to chime in to say how much I'm enjoying reading your Paris trip, Joan, and I'm making notes of the fabulous restaurants where you have dined. We're going back for Christmas again this year and am getting my Paris fix through your posts and especially the pictures of the food - the Coquilles St. Jacques and apple dessert looked amazing!

Sue, it sounds like your day was a success with all of the macaroons. Enjoy!

We will be off to Casse Noix a bit later. You should really put it on your list. Reservations a must and really nice people. A people friendly chef and you are recognized when you return!! Will have more photos.....

I hope Sue did not eat all those macaroons and spoil her dinner. I did introduce her to the bus..now she is wild to try them all, I think!! No more metro, she says...

We really want to learn the bus system also....do not like metro as too many steps to climb and kind of eerie down there.

Joan, thanks so much for your wonderful report. I haven't visited Paris since Thanksgiving 2008 and am dying to return. Our last 5 visits, we stayed at the f/k/a Hilton Paris (on points)and and found we really like staying in the 7th/15th. Next trip, I'm thinking about an apartment rental and your location looks great. Can you let me know which agency you use and the name/number of your rental. Thanks so much. Can't wait to read your next installment.
Regards, Margaret

Cornelius,

The buese are wonderfjul! Sue is elated now that I have showed her the system!!

Margaretlb. I now always stay in the Paris Perfect apartments. www.parisperfect.com Staying in them only once does spoil you with anything else! I prefer the western part of the 7th..Rapp/St Dominique.Bourdonnais area, and a large number of their apartments are in this area as it is such a wonderful area to live/shop/dine/be in! The upper 15th has also become very poular due to the closeness of this area. My suggestion is to just look at all the apartments for your size needs and you will find the one that is just for you. I have stayed in many, so if I can help you with any questions, please ask.

Hi Joan,

I am so enjoying your reports on the various restaurants you have been dining in. I can't get over the wonderful presentation of each dish. It is all very artistic. I saw that you had the seafood Caesar Salad at the Ritz Bar Vendome, will try that next year if it is still open.( I hope to be in Paris for a month.)
I agree with your comments on the buses. Once you have mastered the bus routes, the metro is practically toast.
Thanks for posting all the great photos and descriptions of your dinners. It is really fun to read about what you have been doing and eating.
And lastly, thanks again for your advice about going to the Crillon and the Ritz. They were both memorable in terms of the food and the experience. I will be back.
Cheerio,
Printemps

Joan...

Still following all your tasty adventures...I'm savoring every picture!

I'm very interested in hearing about your experience at FL because it is high on my "go to" list for our December visit. Especially since it is just around the corner from our rental apartment!
