Joan, How early do you go to either Constant's to wait to have lunch....Will give it another try as the pics look really good or is it your camera making it look so nice?

Cornelius,

It is a cheap Kodak camera, so cannot be that! For lunch at either one get there before 12! They will let you in to wait. At Cafe, you can sit at bar and have a glass of wine if you would like! Or go to Cafe about 3 and it will have calmed down and can be more pleasant!! You will niot ewant dinner later...have a late breakfast and a late lunch and you have it made...maybe a light snack late evening!

Glad your return visits to Pottoka were better than the 1st one. We enjoyed our one lunch there. Have you had time to check out Fables to see if you find the slippage reported by some recently?

Joan,
Thanks for the tips on getting in to Café Constant & Les Cocottes. I so wanted to eat there last trip and appreciate your tips to get in for December. And, many thanks for the heads up on Christmas Eve/Christmas dinner at Violon!

vmratcliff,
I just confirmed our Christmas Eve dinner at Violon d'Ingres so they are indeed open. It will be 100 euro per person before wine. A 50 euro deposit is required to confirm the reservation.

Not surprised with the deposit for Christmas. There are so many no-shows..people book several places and show up at one. That is so rude!

I know you will be pleased that you went there for Christmas Eve.

I cannot imagine doing that, Joan! When we call to cancel a dinner so many times the host is so grateful that we took the time to call and cancel. Yes, that is so rude not to call to cancel!

We haven't seen the menu yet but will your high praise I'm sure we will be very happy!

BeachGirl,
I'm sure it will be a special Christmas Eve menu. I am having lunch with Catherine soon, so will maybe ask her..she may not know, though...and maybe you should be surprised!! Like our Thanksgiving menu at Violon...it was really a surprise and so well done last year..I just cannot imagine that it could be any better this year!! The rest of the restaurant really does take notice!!

I did mention to Catherine Constant our evening at Etoile Atelier last night. She said that she does like the Montalembert one, but she goes with Christian and receives VIP treatment!

Catherine Reed is a delightful person. Everything is prepared to order. She says that she presently has help Thurs thru Sat. Closed Sun/Mon. She will have the balancing act of providing the help as needed in handling customers as her business grows. If she is able to get a professional wait person, it should work!! The place is a delight!

Will have to check on Reed!!

Interesting, we always go to the L'Atelier location in the 7th on Montalambert. It seems maybe you can't replicate the experience or they have expanded too much. I don't think we got the VIP service that Catherine and Christian get, but we always had great service. They even gave me a third dessert because I didn't finish one of my courses and they thought I didn't like it (I was just pacing myself)!

Thank you so much for the Christmas Eve Violon info! Am working on it now. Hope i'm not too late..sometimes it can be difficult to get a reservation for one person for a special event, but keeping my fingers crossed. Again thanks....Vicki

I had lunch with Catherine Constant today. She gave me all the menus for the holidy period. Do send your reservation request to [email protected] and Alexanddre will take care of it! You should do OK for 1 person. I always do!!

Weekender and I are going to Reed on Saturday evening. He arrives Friday morning for Armistice Day lunch at Bar Vendome and then on Sat we will give Reed a try and he returns to Chicago on Sunday! That's why they call him weekender!!

Going to meet Florent and Mchael for a glass of wine at 7. They have to pack tonight to flee tomorrow night with the rest of the Parisians for the last long holiday before Christmas!

I am getting more and more excited as my departure date nears. Tom and I are looking forward to trying these delicious and beautiful dishes with you!

Packing can wait after Armistice Day - then Thanksgiving with the family - then the long awaited Paris Trip!

bisous,
Lilia

Thank you for the Violon contact. I've been having issues with my email being delivered but am hoping for the best! i am arriving on the 15th but am afraid that might be too late. The concierge service keeps telling me the restaurant is closed! I think the cc people have contracted with a new outfit...I can't say I'm impressed!
I think I mentioned that I would be staying in the Meursault from Dec 20 to Jan 8..only my second PP apartment stay ,but i am sold!
Have been avidly following your trip report as usual and making note of the new restaurant ideas. Thanks again. Vicki

Joan, thanks so much for the price at Schmidt. I appreciate it.

Sue, if you can, can you please let me know if you had advance tickets to the Stein exhibit?

I am loathe to book each exhibit that I want to see, but I also would hate to wait in long lines. Can you tell me a little about the experience?

thanks,
debbie

Vicki,

This is the address for making reservations at Violon:
[email protected]
This is their excellent website:
http://www.maisonconstant.com/

You will like the Meursault. I was one of the early ones to stay there. Great panoramic view. It was staying there that I found Flirt The and Florent for my breakfasts and how we became such good friends.

Lilia,

We 3 will have fun together, that we know!

Marcy, I am sending an e-mail to Catherine Reed for you..will cc you.I will be able to report after our Sat night visit, too!

Sue and I met Florent and Michael last night for wine and visit. She had not met Michael. We had a great visit and shared a bottle of wine! They headed homeward to pack for their departure for Brittany this evening and we both decided that we were not hungry and just head back to our apartments.

More later..

a bientot..
