I just returned from having dinner with Denise! She and husband will be joining us for Thanksgiving at Violon! Cute, cute, nice gal. A good addition to our very select group! Ha!

They would enjoy Spring, too. Will leave that in the hands of Florent to take care of.

a bientot..

Hi all and Joan-

Joan is lovely and also a celebrity in Asheville with her own personal booth at the restaurant we went to...they had a caricature of her drawn atop of jet with Asheville on one side and the Eiffel Tower on the other! Perfect for her!! It was a treat to meet her.

We are so excited about our trip and Thanksgiving at Violon.

Hi Joan, I was getting some information together for a trip in September. Several of us are meeting in Paris and I went to look up shuttle-inter's prices to compare with Victor's and couldn't access the shuttle-inter website. Do you know if they have a new website?

Hi Judy,

I had a bit of problem with the website working too...finally got it..this should work. I emailed them as I always do for my bookings rather than the website. I will give you that, too

http://www.shuttle-inter.com/booking.htm

[email protected]

The price is generally 55 euros, but if booked round trip you may get 5 to 10 euros off for the return part..you pay cash when delivered. Tell them that you know me as I think with so many of us that use them that we get good rates. I always email them both directions a day ahead to re-confirm. I also flatter them by telling them about their great service...Can't hurt to do so.

Victor is very good and dependable..I think you will find much more expensive.

I've used both several times and I believe Victor is more costly. I'll e-mail if I can't get the website to come up.

Your link just worked for me! Thanks, Joan.

I just received this and thought it was very funny!! Women may enjoy more than men..sorry about that!!

Very Short Story

Man driving down road.
Woman driving up same road.
They pass each other.
Woman yells out window, PIG!
Man yells out window, BITCH!
Man rounds next curve.
Man crashes into a HUGE PIG in middle of road and dies.

Thought For the Day:

If men would just listen

I have been too busy to even look here!

Just checked my brocante site to see what is ahead for the fall. Lots of brocantes while I am there. Also when Sue is there. Can do some Christmas shopping!

I will get with Catherine re Thanksgiving and some other things after all return from their August vacations away from Paris and their closings.

Things are shaping up!

a bientot..

Joan,

I'm so glad I found this post! I am really looking forward to meeting you (finally!)

I couldn't keep track of all the Fodorite's Paris dates above (so many of us will be in Pars!), but my mom and I will be in Paris Dec. 8 (arriving from a week in Strasbourg) through Dec. 17 and would love to have dinner or lunch with you and any other Fodorites in Paris during that time. Let me know what day/time works with your schedule!

Let me know if it would be easier to coordinate via direct email and not here on this thread.

Have not been here for awhile!

It looks like weekender will make it the end of October!! Sounds great. We have dining plans pretty well decided, too.

Calendar is filling up. I really do have a lot of places that I plan to cover this trip. I think I always say that!

a bientot..

Joan,

You may already know but Christian Constant's new restaurant, Bibent, opened in Toulouse in June. I had pestered you several times about it! It looks lovely, retaining the name and interior of the previous cafe/brasserie which I understand was THE literary haunt of Toulouse in the 1970s. No reservations. www.maisonconstant.com

I've only walked by and had a look at the menu but we as had a two- and four-year old in tow we thought we'd go some time in Sept. on our own. I'll write a mini report after I've been.

Thanks again for keeping me updated on its progress.

It's not a bad flight, well under two hours. Last time we flew up we did Easyjet into Orly, their schedule would probably work for a day trip, although on the same place as Bibent are two very good hotels if you decided to stay over.

Air France also has flights.

The train from Gare Montparnasse is pleasant but takes 5+ hours.

Please let me knew if you come down, we're about 45 min. SW of Toulouse.

Well we will let you check it out for us. I know it is a casual place. Attractive, though. I will talk to Catherine upon arrival or before arrival. She had told me that there were flights almost every hour and a short flight. Might be a fun thing to do either as a day trip or overnight. I may try putting something together this fall and then plan to do it in the Spring. I will be back mid March to mid May!

Sounds fun!!

a bientot..

I had suggested to a friend arriving in November and spending 10 days in an apartment near me that we go to Ciel de Paris for lunch the day after her arrival. Great views and things to do in he area after and a walk home!

She looked it up today, before I made online reservations and they are closed until April 2012 for renovations!! That takes care of that. Another has just gained our business!

My restaurant list is sooooo long!

a bientot...

Joan,

Thank you so much for mentioning the closure of Ciel de Paris. We too had planned lunch there in October but I'm sure we will find another.
