Normandy Tours

We are looking at 3 or 4 full days in Normandy in early May. We are planning one day for Mt. St. Michel. We are WWII buffs and are looking to spend the rest of the time going on tours. We are looking for small or private tours. Any suggestions. Has anyone taken the Overlord Tours? If so, what tours did you take and do you recommend that tour?

We are planning on a week in Normandy in late May. We have booked a private thru " Tours by Locals." They were recommended by several people who have toured with them.

I've never done a D-Day Tour but having been a member of travel forums for several years I've read comments from loads of people who have used Overlord Tours and they seem to always get good marks.

In regards to Tours by Locals, that is a 3rd party website that connects you with tour guides and the company itself doesn't do tours. Before booking with them you should do google searches to see if you can find the actual tour guide. Although sometimes the individual tour guide's price may be similar or the same there are times when a tour booked through Tours by Locals will be more expensive because they take a percentage of the tour cost from the tour operator and the tour operator may increase their price on the Tours by Locals website to compensate.

I did the overlord tour several years ago and am using them again next July for the full day American sector. They were great the first time around.

I've personally used Normandy Sightseeing Tours out of Bayeux and was satisified- Overlord and Bayeux shuttle get positive mentions on forums as well.

We used http://www.firstnormandybattlefieldt...tour-guide.htm and Allan was excellent! Even my mom, who I thought would not enjoy it, did. Our DD was a teen at the time, and even she was wishing we would have opted for the 2 days tour vs the 1 day that we did.

We did an Overlord tour this spring. We'd highly recommend it. There were 6 of us in a van and we toured from 8 AM to after 5 PM......I was afraid that might be too much time but was never bored.

We booked it based on recommendations from friends who did their 2 day tour. We stayed at Hotel Churchill in Bayeux and the tour picked up just a block away.

Judy--We too have stayed at the Churchill and loved it! Our pickup location was the same as yours, so I wonder if most tours pick up there?
