Normandy in Nov

I might be going to Paris is mid-November. I know temps will probably be in the 50's which is fine for me. What might the weather be like at the beaches in Normandy and at Mont St. Michel? Too cold? Should I put off the visit until a better month? Input would be appreciated.

It will probably be cold, wet, windy and empty of tourists. Put your rain coat on and enjoy.

You should go to Normandy.

Wear a waterproof jacket and a couple of layers (which you will have in your suitcase already).

Yes, it will be cold and windy and wet, and you should absolutely go. I'm a firm believer in visiting places like the D-Day beaches and le MSM on bad-weather days. It seems so much more "realistic" than on a gorgeous July day with throngs of tourists about.

My husband and I did the trip in November one year. We were retracing the route my father took from Omaha Beach to St. Lo to Nancy to Bastogne. It rained almost non stop, was very chilly and windy. True we were not part of a crowd; but, we were so uncomfortable our walking was very limited and we really did not have a chance to truly experience the special qualities of each place. We agreed to return in September. Gorgeous weather, we saw everything we wanted to and enjoyed being outside and walking around. We were able to really get a sense of each place, often sitting for hours and just soaking it in.

Whenever you choose to go check out www.battlebus.fr for really good tours of various sites. Our very informed guide of the US battle sites made for an interesting day for my 14 yr old son and I. The picture he painted of the invasion was incredible.
