No Eurostar tickets 8/9 Sept - why?
Hi, my husband and I are travelling to London and France in September and I was very surprised to see there are no Eurostar tickets available on the weekend of 8 and 9 September (from London to Paris). Is something happening then? It seems a long way out to have nothing available at all on that day. What am I missing?
Thanks, Kay

I see no seats on either the Sat or Sun - but every day before and after has lots of availability. My guess - and I'm just guessing because I couldn't find any info with just a quick search - is that engineering works may be scheduled that weekend.

Thanks, that would explain it. I wondered if there was a big event on or something. Anyone know if booking early on Monday after engineering works means the trains will be running OK? Does it take time for everything to start working as usual again?

I'm not sure if it is engineering -- that is just my guess. But if it is -- They are for a set time period and trains before and after would not be affected.
Here's an idea. . . . Maybe e-mail Mark (man in seat 61) and ask him if knows anything special about those dates - he knows everything about rail travel, and posts here sometimes.
Either https://www.seat61.com/email.htm or maybe PM him on Fodors.

Thanks. I would prefer to wait and book down the track a bit but realise prices are going up as I wait. It's the cheapskate side of me wanting to book now and pay less
We are planning on connecting from Paris to Rennes and those tickets are not available yet, but they seem to be about every hour which is good.

>>Nobody in Europe really books that far ahead, so I can say with conviction that those dates are not really sold out <<
kerouac, that is what I would normally assume, but all the days on either side (5,6,7,10,11 Sept ) do show trains/seats. If the schedule wasn't up yet, wouldn't they also so no seats available?

If you look around carefully, London-Lille, and London-Brussels are available on Sept 8 and 9. It is the Eurostar Lille-Paris Nord that is not offered. If you looked at www.oui.sncf, London-Paris says "sold out" for Sept 8 and 9 while Lille-Paris Nord says "train not yet open." The Lille-Paris segment is open for booking up to August 26 right now.
