giovanna,

Being on a plane filled with us deprived chapstick/lipgloss addict, might be hazardous to those people who would tell us, that it's not big deal!!

You're absolutely right Lyb! It's repeated over and over on these kinds of threads--what's very important to one (or several posters) is felt to be anything from no big thing to outright ridiculous. This seems to be the case on "what should I wear/not wear" threads; how not to look like a tourist; comfort on planes, etc. All of us here love travel, but sure differ on what does and doesn't matter when we do travel.

I don't know if this will help, but my parents just flew to Italy this week and my mother was so upset about the Chapstick ban I encouraged her to call the airline and ask specifically about lip balm. Here's what Northwest told her:
-- Any lip balm or lipstick in a solid or semi-solid form is acceptable (i.e. anything like Carmex, that's in a pot, or a wax solid in a tube.)
-- However, if it is a lip *ointment*, it is not acceptable (i.e. any lip product that is in a tube with an applicator, or that is "squeezeable.&quot

Just thought I'd chip that in, lest anyone end up heartbroken when their ointments get confiscated! Stick to the hard stuff, I guess.

Thanks Heather, any up to date info is great. At the price of some of those lipglosses, I certainly wouldn't want to have to throw them away.

I have bought some Burt's Bees Wax chapstick and some other for my upcoming Italy trip. Cannot have dry lips for 24 hours!!!
