Nice place to stay in Paris - November?

My friend and I will be in Paris for three nights in November. Can anyone suggest a nice place to stay, that would be reasonably priced and fairly close to all of the attractions? We would be sharing a room and would like a room that has two double beds. Is this a possibility in Paris? Also, I'm looking for a travel board concerning Paris - any good recommendations? Cheers - Libby

Libby---There are many, many good places to stay in Paris. Search under "Paris hotels" on this forum and you'll find more than you can read. Also, use this Fodor's web site and go to Hotels, then to Europe and Paris, and you will find long lists.

As for a specific recommendation, I have a favorite---Hotel l'Abbaye St. Germain, on Rue Cassette. It's an old-fashioned Paris hotel, reasonably priced, and in a wonderful location, in my opinion. I have always enjoyed staying there because of the location and the helpfulness of the staff.

Hotel du danube on Rue Jacob is lovely. Don't know if any of the older charming hotels would have rooms with 2 double beds..that is more an American Hotel thing.

If you are talking about this Nov..you'd better start booking soon..

I think the Familia Hotel in the Latin Qtr has rooms with 2 dbl beds -- at least one because I think it's on their web site. It's a budget level, a lot of people like it on here. It is very well-priced and a great location, so I guess it depends how nice you want.
