Hello! Get ready to give up half your life to this board, it can be quite addicting!
Here is where the FAQ is stored:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm
You've already registered.
You first need to select the forum that has the topics you're interested in; for instance, you selected Europe to get here.
All posts on this forum go into one 'bucket' called Europe. When you're creating your post, you can select from a drop-list a specific country, but it doesn't segregate your post there, that just helps for 'filtering' the list. You don't have to select a country if you don't want to.
After you type the message, you can click "preview" - if somethings needs revising, click "edit"...when it's ready, click "post my reply".
If you can't find a post you did because it got pushed down the list by newer posts, then click on your screen-name at the top of the screen and all YOUR posts will be listed.

I suggest reading thru posts with titles like "what city should i go to?" and you'll get lots of ideas of people's favorite destinations.
Also use the SEARCH box and type in a topic that interests you (Paris hotels, Venice restaurants, Switerland trains, whatever) and you will get a listing to the left of posts that specifically include those words.
To post a message to the Europe board, you just do whatever you did to post this one. Make the title as specific as you can with name of the city or country you are asking about (say Budget Paris Hotels instead of I Need Help, for example).

Well MrGo, my intentions are to plan a 30th wedding anniversary trip next year for my husband and myself and the thoughts we are having are Greece, Hawaii, or Germany. Like I said, being new I just need thoughts. Thanks!

Wow...Greece, Hawaii or Germany, huh? I'd say this: decide first the time of year you will be going. Then plan your destination accordingly.
If it's a summer trip, make it Germany. Preferably the Alps.
Late spring or early autumn, make it Greece. Preferably the islands.
Early spring or late autumn, make it Hawaii. Preferably with a lot of sunscreen.
Hope this helps.

For the time being, be aware that a "search" will NOT retrieve anything from the past 29 days (as of today) based on an "ordinary" attempt to find specific words in messages since May 4. Click on a person's name, or the entire "country" function still work, as far as I know.

Best wishes,

Thanks, elaine...
It was a very good trip, though not without warts (and I will not be bashful about mentioning them, in a few cases). I'll be working on the report over a period of several days - - and I am likely to post longer more detailed portions of it on a separate web page (and include pictures), where I can edit, as needed.
