New format working fine so far.

Notice that when you go to the next 50 they are labeled 51 - 100 etc instead of always 1 - 50? Also when you go to the previous 50 it actually goes there. Before if you went to 51 - 100 and then 101 - 150, if you went to the previous 50 it would take you to where you came from not necessarily the prior 50. It also seems much faster today.
Good job Fodors.
Art

So far the search funtion is not working well at all. It will only match one word and either give you lots of irrelevant posts or nothing at all.
Hopefully this will improve as they work on it.

Gerry

I did a search and got some hits, but when I clicked on them they did not just open up, instead I got one of those messages like "do you want to save this file or open it to a disk?" And that was for every message within a thread-- clearly not doable in any practical sense.

Liz

Yes, Art, I agree, some of the best features are back, and working like greased lightnin'! Not sure about more "complex" searches - - but simple ones are primo! Thanks again, Fodors!

It took me about two minutes to work my way back to my first post:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads.cfm?fid=2&searchtext=rex&start=284 1

on November 4, 1999 - - 2,840 posts ago.

not counting the anonymous ones...

Best wishes,

Rex

P.S. Of course, as soon as I post this it will be two-thousand, eight-hundred and forty ONE posts ago.
I've been off meeting some of you on the West Coast for the last couple of days. Do I assume from this that they're going to try to introduce the new stuff step by step?

I hope so Shiela. Having been in the IT industry for many years, I've seen my share of good implementations and total disasters. Making small changes at a time rather than wholesale is often the way to go.
Cheers
The search function is working better now. In fact better than it ever has for me before. Thanks Fodors! And, here I thought they had abandoned us on this site. Apparently someone is still working over there.

Gerry

I have noticed that I get script errors when I post a reply. The reply posts anyway, but it is a bit of a bother.
Regards
Art
I got the script error transiently too, Art -- but now disappeared - - and two word searches seem to be working (unlike earlier today) - - for "Venice restaurants" - - for example.

I had forgotten about this little blip on the radar screen this summer - - can't even remember how long it lasted. Wouldn't it be nice to have this number 51 etc back and working again?
