Ah, ok... wasn't expecting to actually get one.

Hmm, ok.
A rocket and toro hooves and everyone goes.
I'm looking for this city's alter ego.

5 letters, ends with an "A"

Thanks ctm for correcting my spelling. Do I still get to play? If I do then I'd like to take another Sicilian "M". This little backwater berg was the birthplace of the notorious folk hero Turridu as he was called by the locals. Ten letters starting with "M".

Does it have something to do with the running of the bulls at Pamplona?

Sicula..the only Turridu I can think of is from Cavalleria Rusticana...I just pulled out the Libretto from my CD but it doesn't name a village...but that's okay , I have it on am and enjoying Maria Callas ! Is this the Turridu you are thinking about or is it more obscure?

Clifto....my brain is filled with music right now..not bull hooves!

Clifton, Yamaguchi is its sister city; Mesquite, NV also has a running of the bulls; but I can't think of any other alter ego. Hints?

Yep Sue, that's it. Pamplona, being in Basque country has a Basque name as well. Iruña.

It's all yours!

YAY! I think I got Sicula's, too, so that brings us back to only one clue ongoing, and an easy one at that.

8 letters, the 6th is U, building on the U in Iruna. Endless French all together with bloodsucker makes city pink.

Too (tout?) easy, Sue! Tou-louse, La ville rose!

Mine's easy, too. 6 lettres, L is the third. Half a gourmet's guide or scene of Jose's protest.

Oh, forgot to ask Clifton. What's Iruna's connection to a rocket?

LVSue you are the winner. Yes. Montelepre is situated smack dab in the heart of mafia territory. Turridu, formally known as Salvatore Guiliano (1922-1950), remains to this day an immortal figure of grand proportions, venerated as a modern day benefactor of the poor and voiceless, the saint of betrayal and counter-betrayal. Turridu's reputation still resonates today in an epic sort of way. If you've ever been to the giftshop situated next to Doric ruins of Segesta, you would have noticed all the memorablia on sale regarding his legendary escapades.

Betty1:

The first rocket is fired to warn the runners that the bulls are ready.

The second rocket is fired and the bulls are released into the streets.

Dear husband, who has spent the last 15 minutes on every search engine available, could only mutter (upon the solving of this new clue), "...they're losing us..." We need clues about all the clues' answers; keep them coming!
