Nefertiti Bust -- will it be on display this summer?

It looks like many of the Egyptian artifacts at the Altes Museum are now no longer on display (closed in February), that they will not be visible again until sometime this fall when the Neue Museum opens. What I've been able to find out online suggests that the Nefertiti bust will still be on display, though. Does anyone know if the Nefertiti bust will still be available to see through the summer, and if so, where and for how long?

Many thanks.

I'm curious about this also. Have you tried emailing the museum and ask (though, they don't always give you the correct answer)...

I find the german museum websites not particularly easy to navigate (limited info on current status of exhibits, and often only in German, unlike most other world class museums, which have multilingual websites).

An email to the Altes would probably be the best bet for up-to-date info.

BTW, Did you know that there has been some (fairly sensational) speculation in the last few days that this bust may be a fake? Some reports in the British broadsheets about it if you are interested.....

I don't know the answer to your question, but was going to mention the same thing as RM67. The reports indicate that the bust actually dates from around 1912 and was made in part to test the authenticity of some of the artifacts previous found. The paint on the bust is supposedly authentic, but the bust itself is not. Authorities at the Altes so far haven't had any comment. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

I read the same article disputing its authenticity. There was mention of it being back on display in October when the new museum opens.

I remember seeing the bust a couple summers ago. Quite fascinating!
