Need transportation from Heathrow to Gateway area and Hotel -

We will be flying into Heathrow and will be flying out of Gateway the next day.

Need a clean, inexpensive hotel near Gateway and transportation to Gateway the
next morning.

How far is it from Heathrow to the Gateway
area? Would it be very expensive to take a taxi?

Thanks

It might be helpful if you tell us what time you're arriving at Heathrow and what time your flight is at Gatwick (note: no E) the following day.

If you are flying in early to Heathrow in the day, and your flight on the next day is not until the afternoon, you can go into London and do some sightseeing there, and spend the night in London.

There is a bus service between Heathrow & Gatwick. Try www.nationalexpress.com

I copied the following from the Heathrow Airport website - hope it helps -
By Coach
Heathrow - Gatwick
The National Express 700 runs every 15 - 20 minutes from outside Terminals 1, 3 and 4. It takes approximately 70 minutes to Gatwick's North and South Terminals and the cost is £17.00 for an adult and £12.00 for a child each way. After 12:00 the service operates every 30 minutes until 22:30. Tickets can be purchased at the Bus and Coach Information desk located in Terminals 1, 3 and 4 or on the bus, subject to availability. The coaches pick up at arrivals level of Terminals 1, 3 and 4 and set down at departures level. For Terminal 2, coaches pick up and set down at departures level.

National Express coaches (707/ 717/ 727/ 797) operate ? hourly to Gatwick and the journey takes approximately 70 minutes. Coaches run from the central bus station at Heathrow for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and from outside Terminal 4 arrivals. They set down outside Gatwick North and South Terminals. Adult fares are £14.00 single and £20.00 return and child fares are £7.00 single and £10.00 return. Tickets can be purchased from the Travel Centre at the central bus station or from the Bus and Coach Information Desk on the forecourt of Terminal 4 arrivals.

To pre-book tickets and for exact times ring 08705 808080 (UK only) or visit www.nationalexpress.co.uk

Daisy54- thank you for the copy of the shuttle info.
Do you have any suggestions about a hotel that is clean but not too expensive?

As far as your hotel search goes, when I've gone to London I've stayed in town rather than near the airport, so I can't advise you there, but I do recommend a very comprehensive web site that may help you - www.smoothhound.com. Strange name, great site.

crp1-

If you are still trying to find out the cost of taxi from Heathrow to Gatwick, and more hotel options & Gatwick, I suggest you repost your message with the correct spelling. You probably will get more response that way because most people will skip over your current post since they don't know where "Gateway" is.

Here is a thread from 1 year ago that has several B&Bs around Gatwick. You can find out more by typing Gatwick Airport hotels in the search box above.
