Festival D'Avignon

My daughter and I are planning on being in Avignon this summer for the Festival. Have never been to France. Any thoughts on the festival or nice reasonable places to stay in Avignon.

Thanks!

Have a look at Le Cloître St-Louis, not far from the railway station (the old one, not the TGV).

Make your reservations somewhere soon; Avignon gets very crowded during the festival.

Ignore the Manior
In nearby Ile de la Barrthelasse is "L'Anastasy"" but credited cards are not accepted. It's a lovely Maison D'hote with pool and the woman is a good cook.

The Festival in Avignon is great fun. Very good atmosphere - a lot like Edinborough's festival for comparison. Lots of street entertainers, and off-off stuff - as well as more organized major events. Helps a lot if you ar french-speaking naturally, but even so, it is fun just for the atmosphere. Though be warned - you have to like crowds!
