restaurants in annecy and avignon

Could someone recommend a restaurant in Annecy and/or Avignon? I won't have a car so it would have to be something in town.

Avignon has many delightful restaurants
Christian Etainne (Terrace overlooks the Pope's Palace)
The eternal, Heily Luccalus (sp?) upstairs,
Le Bain de Marie, the simple Café des Artistes.
In annecy, I don't remember the name in the old part of town but we sat outside, inside was an Ac/Dc bar and dancing upstairs but for culinary treat, nothing beats the Auberge de Eriden in Tailloires on Lac Annecy but, alas, you;ll need car as well as at Pere Brise.

The restaurant in the Hotel le Mirande is excellent in Avignon.

We had an extremely delicious meal one evening in Avignon at Le Grand Café, 4 rue Escaliers Sainte-Anne, behind the Palais des Papes. It was one of the best meals we have had at its price level in France, but it was 2 years ago so who knows what has happened. But worth a look. There is a jazz club next door, but you aren't aware of it.

It's been several years, but we had one of our favorite meals at Auberge de Savoie in Annecy.

Another vote for Auberge L'Erdian in Talloires (hotel and restaurant of 3* chef Marc Veyrat) and Pere Bise. Both are excellent and the breakfast at Auberge L'Eridan is one of the best I've ever had.
