17 YO daughter wants to go to London for High School graduation. If we go, we will have to take 14 YO brother. Looking for accommodations that would be suitable for family of 4. Last time DW and I went we stayed in South Kensington and liked the area very much, although we are not hung up on a particular area since we used the Tube so extensively. Proximity to a full-service Tube stop is probably more important. We will probably be staying for at least 8 days, not counting travel days, so a possibility would be an apartment or similar. Would also consider adjoining rooms, since wife and daughter can stay in one room as can son and I. Single beds are OK, actually preferable, since it seems like we sleep so much better in single beds while away from home. I would love to say cost is no object, but clearly I would like to save as much as I can since we can extend the time in London. We won’t sacrifice cleanliness and security for price however.

Have a look at Dolphin Square; apartments in Pimlico, near the Thames. They sometimes have good deals, and you will have more space in an apartment. There's an indoor pool there as well.

This has a wealth of London information. If you scroll down a bunch there are tons of links for apartment rentals. I have friends who used London Serviced Apartments and they were very happy. Other friends used A Place Like Home and were similarly pleased.

We (family of 4) stayed in inter-connected rooms at the Cranley Gardens hotel in So. Kensington.The location nwas great. The staff was pleasant. The hotel was clean, secure and in a good location. The rooms were small, but having 2 of them was a plus. One room had a double bed, the other had 2 twins. The bathrooms were tiny and closet/storage area was limited, but we managed. A continental breakfast was included. It was adequate but nothing special.

for a family and w/ 8 days I would never stay in a hotel. Those four walls get really closed in (even w/ 2 rooms) after 3 or 4 days.

rent a flat - More space, less money, and a full kitchen (even if you don't want to cook, the washer/dryer is a God send).

There are MANY threads on here about apartments in London and the alread mentioned Dolphin Square is great - though it can be expensive compared to more basic places.
