Need help with Stockholm hotels:

Has anyone stayed at the Victory or Lady Hamilton? I love the location in the Gamla Stan, and they look very romantic. Also I see that they have a/c, which a lot of "old" hotels do not. I have also heard some good things about the Nordic Hotels: Nordic Light and Nordic Sea. Any comments?

I too would like some input on ?Stockholm hotels. I will be there for three-four days alone ion June. I am quite happy with little old out of way hotels with personality anc cheap rates. I can stay in the Marriott at home!

We found the small Hotel Gamla Stan to be an excellent location, spotless clean, reasonable in cost, fine breakfast, helpful front desk, and a tiny roof garden thrown into the bargain when we stayed on the top floor overlooking the rooftops of the Old Quarter (Gamla Stan).

Your post sounds identical to the one I was just about to make, USNR. We had the same rooftop (and chimney view -- think Mary Poppins) from the Gamla Stan. We found it to be a delightful little hotel.

Hi USNR,
Regarding Hotel Gamla Stan: Did the rooms have private baths?
Probably no elevator, right?
Do you still have a contact nr. or e-mail address ?
Love to hear from you
Thanks, Parfym

Yes, all the rooms at Gamla Stan have private bath (at least to my knowledge). I can't guarantee an elevator, but looking at my journal I see we were on the fourth floor, so I'm sure I'd remember if we DIDN'T have an elevator -- must be one.
It's been several years and I booked by FAX.
But Google "Hotel Gamla Stan" and you'll see a number of websites with descriptions and booking. I see it is now called "Rica City Hotel Gamla Stan". I'm not sure about a direct email booking with the hotel.

We stayed in Room 402, obviously on the 4th floor, used their elevator. The room had a sitting area and a separate bedroom. Small roof garden. Used fax; this was in '97 so before email became common. Highly recommend The Hotel Gamla Stan.

WE stayed at the Rica City Hotel Gamla Stan in 2001 and found it delightful. Great location. Very pretty rooms. Helpful staff and good breakfast. Quiet! You can book on the internet (google Gamla Stan Stockholm). You won't be sorry.

Joegri: I checked their web site and the room shown is the very same room we occupied. Excellent location. Fine breakfast. Walking distance to all kinds of attractions.
