Need help w/finding Vienna Apt. on Map!

I found a apartment in the 2nd district of Vienna on Darwingasse #8. I wanted to know if this is considered the "Leopoldstadt District" or are we on the edge of it? Is this area safe during the day/night?

I have tried doing searches on the internet, but I couldn't find much information on this district.

You might want to try
It shows the address at the edge of Leopoldstadt.

I think all of district 2 is often called "Leopoldstadt", at least most of the part from the Augarten/train station to the Prater. I think Leopoldstadt tends to me a little more the area to the NE of the Prater Ubahn stop. I can tell you exactly where that apt. is -- it's in-between the Augarten park and the Praterstern Ubahn stop, about a block north of Heinestrasse which is the main street that connects those two.

I'm not sure about safety except Vienna is one of the safest cities anywhere, so it's probably okay, although I know parts of that area are not so nice and there are porno/sex shops in some parts (around the U-bahn station and to SW, Am Tabor to the north of there) and there is some prostitution around the Prater (but I guess that's fairly common in cities (prostitution around parks), also--espec. Praterstrasse maybe. That apt. isn't right next to the Prater, but I think there is a train station in that area, also and in general, nicer areas tend not to be around train stations and prostitution. I think in general the area of Vienna to the east(?) of the canal (where the 2nd district is) is not the nicer part of Vienna. I don't know it really well, though, I think a local resident could probably best answer or someone who knows the city a lot better than I (I was only there about 5 days). I think there are some interesting places (shops, cafes, restaurants, etc) around the Karmelitermarkt to the SW of that apt (one of the oldest markets in Vienna).

Here's one description of the district:

Thanks Christina - I had also found information on the web that mentioned some sex shops in the area, but I didn't know if that was far from where we were staying.

I believe the apartment is near to the Augarten Park, and near to where the Vienna Boys Choir lives, but I did also want to know from a native, what that are would be like - any one else??

Are you looking to live here in Vienna or is this a vacation rental your looking at? I have been living here in Vienna since April and live in the 4th district. Do you have children? If so which school will they be attending? That will help you decide which area to live in. Alot of Americans live in the 18th/19th district because it is close to the American International School. The Vienna International School is in the 22nd district..but it is only a 20 minute subway ride for us. We looked at the 2nd district (Danube International School is nearby) but it was a bit seedy...not all of it of course, there are some nice places, but enough of it that made me umcomfortable. Vienna is "safer" than most cities I have ever been to, BUT the 2nd district has it problems in that area. Day time is pretty darn safe anywhere in Vienna. BUT nothing is perfect. If you are serious I can take a walk down there and check it out for you? I just need to know what it is you are looking for in the way of neighborhoods.
