No one (reasonable) will answer this question for two reasons:
Most people will not spend the time to open your question to see what it you are actually asking. Particularly those who actually know anything about these hotels have no reason to stop and look at your post.
Then there are the minority of "us" - - which still probably number in the hundreds - - who do bother to take a look at your question, and are irked that it asking something so specific.
Please re-post with a message header like "Can you compare these two hotels in Paris: Libertel Austerlitz versus Sofitel... Rive Gauche?"
Best wishes,
Rex

No offense, Rex, but I suppose the real reason you didn't answer this is because you didn't know the answer. How can you explain the fact that you took the time to open this, but insist no one else will? And why is it you bothered not only to open but also to answer another post titled "travel info"? What's the difference between the two posts?
I agree davecooker might get more or better answers with a more concise title, but let's not rake him over the coals then answer someone else who makes an identical type request.
Sorry, though, I can't answer either.

I am not familiar with the Sofitel Rive Gauche but with Le Parc Paris Sofitel Demeure Hotel...it is a nice, older, boutique style hotel. I stayed there a couple years ago and got a room on top floor with a great window and view of tour eiffel. I hope this helps

well, nobody ever accused me of being reasonable, so I'll give you a few comments as I don't think this is very useful to you so far. The Sofitel Demeure is a completely different location.
Both Sofitel and Libertel are very reputable, good hotel companies, so you sure had better not worry about cleanliness. These are not dumps. Although the Libertel is only a 2*, I know the Sofitel is a 4*. I've stayed in a 2* Libertel and they are kept up nicely and have excellent service.
Both locations are safe, the Rive Gauche is a little out of the tourist area and some folks feel it's too far out of the central tourist area. I don't think it's that bad (it's not out on the edges of the city like some business hotels, it's on the far edge of Montparnasse). It's near a metro station, so convenient, just a nice middle class neighborhood in the 14th. It is a well-known 4* business hotel.
The Libertel is kind of over near the new library and just off the quai on a big major street and near the Gare Austerlitz metro station. It's not exactly a charming area but certainly safe.
I'd choose the Rive Gauche hotel from those choices -- not only is it a nicer hotel, but the location is not as hectic and I think you'd find more within walking distance of your hotel for convenience (cafes, restaurants, etc). it is also not far from Denfert Rochereau and Daguerre neighborhoods.
