Need Driver-Guide for France

As some of you may remember, each year I plan a trip for a great young man with physical problems. This year they are visiting cathedrals in France, and I've been searching for a driver guide for about a week now, with no luck.

If anyone can recommend a driver for (mostly) central France, I would be very grateful.

thanks, debbie

well we are using Bruce and Veronique Mcaleer from french Mystique Tours, but I can't vouch for them till after we go in a few weeks - if you can wait till June 1st I can let you know.

laura: I can't really wait, as the trip begins in late May. Can you tell me if the Mcaleers were recommended?

Hi Tuscan Life - basically I read an exchange Bruce was involved in here on fodors in which he gave an amazing amount of help to someone trying to figure out an itinerary in Normandy, and then googled them online, read their web page and initiated a conversation. I spoke to one reference they gave, other than that it is a bit of a leap, but they really seemed to understand the kind of trip we wanted to create so we are taking the risk. Hopefully I will have good things to share in a few weeks.

Tuscanlifeedit, if you haven't seen any of the trip reports of FMT, take a look. I'm sure you will enjoy the photos and get a kick out of the written part of their trip reports. I recommended them once, strictly on the basis of their fantastic early trip reports (I made it clear that I didn't have any personal experience). The travelers posted back here afterwards that they had thoroughly enjoyed their day trip with French Mystique Tours.

Hi Debbie,

I have compiled a list of French tour guide websites that I can share w/ you. Here is one that I can highly recommend for you:

http://www.traveltourprestige.com/

Catherine is the person you should contact. She is absolutely fabulous and also becoming very popular so may not be available. However, I am sure she may be able to give you recommendations if she is not available. I am not sure what area you are specifically looking at for a tour guide. I have given Catherine's name to several people and set up a private tour for some friends of mine that took their family (15 of them) on a cruise. They loved their day w/ Catherine. She also has an associate.

I would be happy to email you the list I have if it would be helpful. Good luck.
