Need advice on transportation between London and Ireland

After spending time in London, my husband and I plan to meet up with friends in Dublin. Which airlines fly between London and Dublin? Any thoughts on which airlines we should consider, or which ones to avoid? After a week in Ireland we are flying home out of Shannon on Delta.

A quick search on kayak.com shows several major airline options, but there are lots of inexpensive options as well. For example, depending on when you are flying, Ryan Air has flights for 1 pence (plus about 20 pounds in taxes). We flew to Belfast from London on a similar airline (EasyJet-which does not fly into Dublin) and were very satisfied with it. You might get other airline recommendations here, or do a search on "cheap flights Europe".

Djman102 is right. RyanAir will be your cheapest option depending upon which London Airport you fly from. Read their website very carefully. The 1 pence +tax sounds nice but you'll be very lucky to get that fare and they may charge you for your luggage as well.
Also check out BA and Air Lingus but they are scheduled airlines.

The only options are BA from Gatwick, Ryanair from Gatwick, Luton and Stansted, Air France from City and Aer Lingus and bmi from Heathrow. Don't assume the "scheduled" airlines are the dearest, though flights from City are usually pricier than other airports during the working week, especially if you're flying into it in the morning rush hour or out during the evening one.

Depending on where you're starting from, it's often best to choose your airport first.

Once you've taken into account the cost of getting to the airports Ryanair use, it's often cheaper to go to Heathrow & use Aer Lingus
