Need a hotel in Orvieto-Help!
We have it all but the hotel in Orvieto. i have tried La Bada and they are not answering my e-mails. I am assuming they are now full.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We will have a car. We want to spend about $100-150 for a nice 3 star if this is doable.

Thanks for the help.

We only need 1 night in June.

Debby,
we stayed in Orvieto in March at Hotel Valentino. It's 3 star, typical hotel inside, we didn't have the breakfast, went down the street for coffee instead. It doesn't have a car park but there is parking nearby. It is about 10 min walk from the train station and the Duomo, in a narrow back street so no view but lots of atmosphere.
The Hotel Viriglio (sp?) is right on the piazza where the Duomo is and if you get a front room you'd have a great view. It looked nice from the outside. Think it's also 3 star.
A tip for you, the chapel in the front right of the Duomo is free before 10am. It has spectacular frescos and is really worthwhile having a look at. The tour groups tend to arrive after 10am.
Kay

My husband and I stayed at the Virgilio in October; it was my second stay there. The interior decor is plain, sort of 1950s Italian, but the view over the piazza is fantastic, so request a room at the front (we had #26, with ensuite shower). We paid the equivalent of about 80 USD for the room and a basic Italian breakfast. There's a good gelateria a few doors from the hotel, to the left as you go out the door.

Hotel Virgilio
Piazza Duomo 5/6
05018 Orvieto
Tel: 0763 341 882
Fax: 0763 343 797
Continuing to post my recent trip experiences as responses to old postings I used in making my plans.
Just stayed in Hotel Valentino for one night for E82 for two, including breakfast because booked via email. An uphill walk from the train station. On side street, but still vespa and cars on cobblestone all night, so ask for room off the street. Room was fine. Tiniest shower stall possible--don't drop the soap! Decent small buffet breakfast with rolls, croissants, yogurts.
