naples to positano

the gilbeys - The so-called fast train is only 15 minutes faster. This is a commuter train line (think subway like)that begins in Naples and ends at Sorrento. It takes 60-70 minutes and leaves Naples about every 30 minutes. Cost is about 4E. You will get on the next available train because it makes no sense to wait another 30 minutes for a "fast train".

in regards to your advice catching the 4.30 shuttle bus- napoli to sorrento.
where do i catch this bus from?
is it at the airport?
and i've tried to find the official website for the curreri shuttle, but am having no luck.
only getting the web asking me to email them.
would you mind posting
and after reading the following questions re circumvesuvina timetable, have you not suggested the train, because it is more difficult to get to from the airport. or is it because the drive is interesting or...
thanks in advance for sharing your fabulous knowledge

ljforday - I posted the website for Curreri yesterday- it's the 2nd response from the top of this thread. Just click on the link. As it says in my response, you catch the bus at the airport. You do not take the Circumvesuviana. Perhaps you should read the posts again.
Naples airport is not in the city as most airports aren't. The Curreri bus runs between the Naples airport and Sorrento. Once you arrive in Sorrento (by Curreri bus), you catch the Sita bus to Positano. No Circumvesuviana train involved.

Hi Lynette - No. I think the Curreri bus drops off in the main square - Piazza Tasso.
The SITA bus to Positano leaves from below the Circumv. railway station - a 5-mins walk from Piazza Tasso.
Make sure you get Sita bus tickets in advance and
N.B - VALIDATE them on boarding.
Hope this helps ...

For Curreri bus Sorr/NapAirport - dep/arr point it's best to e-mail them and ask where the Sorrento point is NOW. I don't understand it, but sometimes it's Piazza Lauro and sometimes Piazza Tasso and sometimes both. www.curreriviaggi.it

My experience traveling in Sept and trying to catch the SITA bus at the Sorrento Circumvesuviana station: you may have to wait! The bus leaving when I arrived was full to bursting. I had to wait over an hour for the next one.
Just a factor to consider when deciding between private driver and public transit options.
Buon viaggio!
