Best way to travel from naples to positano in Sept.
We will be taking the train into Naples from La Spezia. (Realize that it will be a very long travel day)We know that we can hire a driver, but besides that--can we get a ferry from Naples directly into Positano in September? If we continue on by train, how close can we get before having to get on a bus, and will that be allot of aggrivation? We will be keeping our luggage to a minimum. Thank you

Can you get a ferry from Naples to Positano in September? Yes.
From the Naples train station, take a bus or taxi to Molo Beverello port. (Taxi will be easier, and it's not very far.) At the port, you can take the Metro del Mare hydrofoil directly to the dock in Positano. IIRC, it usually runs through mid-October, but it may be weather dependent. It's 11e and takes about 60/90 mins.

Hi Kaplenta - You will need to make an early start from La Spezia to catch the last Metro del Mare service to Positano (- dep Molo Beverello 14.15).
Alteratively train Naples-Sorrento takes 60-70 mins.
Bus Sorrento-Positano takes 45 mins.
Hope this helps ...
