Naples and Beyond

Hello ! Am planning a 7 days 6 nights trip to Naples and was initially planning on using it as the base to explore Pompei and the Amalfi Coast but after reading all the posted messages am thinking that perhaps it is better to spend 2 nights in Naples, at least one night in Capri.
For Naples, got a good impression from postings abt Hotel Pantero and also hotel Pinto Storey. My max per night for double room is 150 euros. For Capri, it seems that hotel Minerva has for many votes as well.
What do you think of spending a couple of nights also in Sorrento and using it as a base. Saw the http://www.villadelsole.com/
advertised and it looked pretty good. Is Sorrento a good base to use the explore the Amalfi region ?
Any other thoughts and suggestions very welcome. Trip planned for May 10.

Many thanks
Stephanie
Hi Steph,
You might want to look at the Albergo Sansevero Hotel in Naples.
http://www.albergosansevero.it/indexe.html
It has gotten very good reviews.

Thanks for your reply IRA.
There seems to be 4 locations though for this hotel 'chain' which one is the best one...although prices are pretty reasonable.
Hi Steph,
The Albergo Sansevero is the one that has gotten the best reviews.

They seem to be doing very well. I looked them up aboout a year ago and there were only 2 hotels. The year before that there was just the one.

I've stayed at the Sansevero Degas and really liked the location and the breakfast on the piazza. Have seen the lobby of one of the others when I paid my bill. Here is a thread with my comments:

http://fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=13

Text search here for "naples" to find lots of great recommendations. Do not miss the Capella San Severo; some of the most incredible sculpture I've seen anywhere, Michelangelo's Pieta included!

I agree with Lesli on the Sanservo.
We stayed in Naples last year for aobut nine days and used it as a base. Had a great time. I do regret that I didn't book a night on Capri. Didn't care for Sorrento...

We stayed at Parteno B & B overlooking the Bay of Naples. Ask for Room #1. Alex, the owner, is a great guy who will help you with restaurant ideas, sightseeing, etc.
