We stayed here recently and liked it. It is a :10 walk to the Archeological museum. Very near Piazza Bellini--a nice place to hang.

The hotel mentioned above is close to many of the main sights in the old historic area. IF you want to stay out of the fray, and close to more good dining options, you could also take a look at this hotel which I liked very much. It is located in Chiaia, which is adjacent and within walking distance to the historic center, but more upscale and less frenzied. There are better places to eat in that area, in my opinion.
The Alabardieri has very good rates for multi-night and weekend stays during part of the year. I thought the hotel was a very good value. It is located on a pedestrian street, therefore very quiet.

Hi L,
Another vote for Costantinopoli.
There is a good restaurant at Piazza Bellini.
