Naples and Amalfi Coast in November
We're contemplating a trip to Naples and the Amalfi Coast the end of October/ early November. Will these places be completely shut off or will there still be things to do and places to see? Also, is it possible to plan this trip without renting a car?Fodor's 5-day itinerary (Naples - Pompeii - Sorrento - Positano - Capri) sounded good so we may follow that roughly. Any thoughts or suggestions?

We might be able to go next spring, instead. We were trying to decide what to do for our 15th anniversary this coming October. We loved Italy but had only been to Roma and would love to experience the other cities as well. It seems that southern parts of Italy don't get as chilly which was why we thought of Napoli and the AC. But will it be worth the trip?

How long a trip are you planning ? I wouldn't think the Amalfi Coast worth it at that time of year (I've been several times but always in summer), but there is lots to do just in and near Naples. We recently spent a week in Naples & there was so much to do, we still didn't manage to get to Pompei, Herculaneum, Paestum or the Phlegrean Fields, all of which you could do as day trips from Naples. We loved Naples & hope to go back.
