Help me decide...Shall i stay in naples or Amalfi?

I am an urban person who is used to cities so I was thinking of staying in naples and doing day drives t othe different villages in the Amalfi coast. Does that sound ok or shall I stay in these villages?

Amalfi is much much safer than naples.
It is also closer to the other sights that will be of interest. Dont miss Capri, try to stay on the island overnight.

I just returned less than a month ago from Naples and the Amalfi coast. I loved it all. Naples is urban and with that you get traffic, congestion, energy, littered streets, great restuarants and street scenes. I loved Naples, especially the Spanish Quarter. It is not a beautiful like Rome.

Amalfi, Capri, etc is beautiful. The landscape is breathtaking. If you like to explore small towns then this is the place.

If you want more info you can email me but put Italy in the subject line.
I really love Naples--a noisy, chaotic, lovable city with fabulous people and food--BUT, if you're interested in the Amalfi coast towns, you should stay someplace on the drive. It'll take you too long to get out of Naples every day.

If you are relying on public transporation, Amalfi is the best place to stay overnight to visit the towns and villages along the Amalfi Coast. Commuting from Naples is doable, but very tiring and time-consuming.
