My trip report from Bologna in Italy

Hi all

My wife and I went to Bologna in Italy this summer. We first spent a few days in the city itself and stayed at Hotel Touring in the city center. After that we changed hotel to Savhotel located just a bit out of the city center and we rented a car and we had some roadtrips to places like Ferrara, Ravenna and Modena. I have now posted the trip report with photos, videos, maps etc on this page http://gardkarlsen.com/Bologna_italy_trip_report.htm . I hope that it can be of some use to others that are going to Bologna. If you want to have an idea about eating out in Bologna you can also check out this section of the trip report http://gardkarlsen.com/Eating_drinki...ogna_Italy.htm . As you will see, there are lots of good restaurant and LOTS of good food to be eaten in this city ;-) I have also made this interactive Google map that shows the location of the restaurants and attractions that we went to: http://gardkarlsen.com/Bologna_Google_map.htm . Well, there it is...hope that you guys will enjoy it ;-) As always, let me know if you see something that needs to be corrected or fixed in the trip report.

Regards
Gard

gard: I enjoyed your TR very much and particularly liked the way you set up your pages with photo incorporated. Would you please tell a little about the site?

How did you get that site? With a company? Which one? Cost?

At the moment, I have a very basic (read "free") blog and am interested in taking the next step.

Thanks! TD

TDudette - You might like the site this poster used if you don't want to get your own website.

I thought I was the only one looking at brands on things used in restaurants. I always look at the wine glasses in Italy to see who made them. Years ago, my aunt really liked little pots for cream, etc. used on a train she was riding in England so she asked about them. The let her buy them and I have them now. Maybe if you ask about the espresso cups they will just give them to you.

Hi TD...well, my site is just made in pure html I guess and I have made it from scratch together with friends. I just use and old version of Frontpage to create the pages and I place the photos in the text itself...and I post videos on youtube and and embed them in the trip reports. To make it easier you could look at a Wordpress blog...it can look great and have lots of functionality

Gard...

Thank you for posting this trip report! I leave for Bologna in 10 days and your photos and descriptions are making me even more excited! I've also booked the Italian Days Food tour and after reading your account of the tour I am really looking forward to it!

I have just come home from vacation in Thailand and in the mail I found a letter from Avis saying that we have gotten a traffic fine while we were driving around in Ravenna during our visit there. Avis has charged me 30€ for passing on the details to the police...now I wonder how much the fine will be....

Gard,
Love your report, thanks! You are nearly convincing me to make it to Bologna on my trip to Italy in February, I am crazy about mortadella and parmesan cheese.

Sounds as if it's a ticket for ZTL, not speeding. Do you know if you crossed the cameras once or multiple times? I'm sure the amount is somewhere on this link. How's your Italian?

My Italian is very limited but it says something about "zona traffico limitato" - I might have crossed the camera a couple of times as we had to do a circle to avoid one way streets.
