Clarification please. Several people suggested we visit Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. Just yesterday while looking at some restaurants in the Gothic Quarter there was a blurb about Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau which is in Raval area correct? Since posting this originally, I had thought people were talking about the “former Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in the neighborhood of El Guinardó, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, built between 1901 and 1930”. Now I am unclear which is being suggested.

Also do those of you who suggested Palau de Musica feel that going during the day for a tour or seeing a performance in the evening is the best way to see it? On the 11th of May, there is a performance of Barcelona guitar trio and dance. Any thoughts on either scenario?

As always your input is very much appreciated. I haven’t planned a vacation in years without the gracious guidance of those on this site. What a wonderful world that we now have access to decades of travel experience through the kindness of strangers who are willing to share their time and knowledge.
Safe travels and happy exploring to all.

As far as I (and the internet) know there is only one, in El Guinardo, not sure what the first reference is about.

I saw the Palace of Music on a day tour, but would like to see it during a performance. May depend on whether you want to take photos.

We visited the Palau de Musica for an evening concert. It was lovely even though its flamenco theme was not strictly a Catalan specialty.

what we missed by not doing a tour

— daylight streaming through the windows, though you’ll have some daylight at the start of a summertime concert.

— the chance to observe more of the architectural details up close.

if I were to go again, I’d request one of their tours with a short musical performance, either piano or organ.

You made me smile when I read that. I had no idea I could conjure things from thin air and then place them on the internet. Although , that does seem to be the way the world works now. I think it’s a similar sounding name issue and a lack of being detail oriented on my part. Look at this
https://www.barcelonayellow.com/bcn/...tal-santa-creu
“L'Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau Barcelona. The Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona is a medieval 15th century building in the Raval area of Barcelona and now used as a cultural centre. The name can be confusing because there is another old (but not as old) hospital from the modernist era in the Eixample area of Barcelona with the same name.”
From Barcelona Yellow. It also came up in another search which is why I was confused. Thank you for clarifying.
