museum reservations Italy...

Hi we are going in mid June.Has anyone had a problem making reservations two to three weeks in advance? Our group dinner to plan isnt until the 23rd of this month.I think that may be too late..Also thinking Academia at 11;30 and Uffizi at 4pm,does this sound ok,lunch in between.

I went to the Academia mid June 2003 at about 1:30pm and stood in line about 5 minutes to buy tickets.

11:30 for the Accademia is fine but I would move up the Uffizi. You don't need that much time at the Accademia. You could slide in the Barjelllo in between maybe. I would think that 1400 to 1830 would be to little time for the Uffizi. Sorry don't know about if 2 or 3 weeks time is enough.

a different opinion, 2.5 hours is over my limit for the Uffizi. Gorgeous art, but not a user-friendly museum.
About an hour for the Accademia is more than enough for most visitors as there isn't that much to see. I am a particular fan of the Bargello, and also highly recommend it, 1.5-2 hours.

Your hotel can make the reservations for the first two.

I think Elaine makes a good point and that is that how much time a particular person spends in a museum is highly variable and depends on your own likes and dislikes. I can spend hours in some museums and a lot less than that in others. BUT if you are determined to keep to a schedule regardless of your personal experience I think I'd go with having the hotel make the might want to e-mail them in advance and ask if they will do this for you.

Hi kmon,

No reason why you can't make your reservations now. If you don't use them you won't be charged.

Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 1.60 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
