Munich to Salzburg

I'll be landing at munich on 19th mar 9pm at the airport. What are the possible public transport means to get to Salzburg from Munich? Rail or Filght? How about the duration and cost?

Go to Die Bahn (German Train Syetem website) to find out schedule:
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/que...0&OK#focus

Train is the way to go and the trip should take 2:30-2:45.

Hi C,

Go to www.bahn.de.
Click "English".

You want Munich Airport (Flughafen) to Salzburg.

You will take the S-Bahn to Munich East and then the train to Salzburg Hbf.

Here's a map of the Munich U/S-Bahn.

Ideally, you need to take the S-8 to Munich East as Ira has suggested and change there for a train to Salzburg.

BTW, the change at East is easy...there are only a couple of platforms and they are all on the same level (escalators/underground passages between them).

You can take the S-1 to the main RR station and change there but that can be slightly more complicated and may take a bit longer.

its very easy to get there by train...and if you are concerned about schedules you can visit any travel agency and they will print you a ticket in advance for a reserved seat in first class. the trains are very organized and reliable. you won't have any problems. you will need to keep your passport on the train though since between countries they board the train and stamp your passport!! i think its $75-$100 for the trip..i can't recall. its a beautiful trip though.

since you are coming in late you are probably spending a night in munich. dont miss the hofbrau house in munich before you go though! very entertaining!
