Gratuities for England tour
Hi,
I am planning to join a tour from Golden tour. It is a one day trip to bath, stonehenge and salisbury. I read about the terms and conditions from the website. It says gratuities is not included for the gudie, driver and tour manager. I want to know if I need or must pay for the gratuities of the guide, driver and tour manager. Is it some kind of unwritten policy and how much would it be.

When I have been on day trips in Europe when traveling with either Trafalgar or Grand Circle, they indicate that the equivilant of $2.00 to the bus driver and $3.oo to the guide. And with the price of the tour, that can keep adding up so must be planned for. Have a great trip. halfpint

Actually they have to be paid at least minimum wage (employers are not allowed to count assumed tips towards this) which in the UK is £5.35 an hour for over 21s. So even if they only get minimum wage they are not paid exorbitantly but no less than many others in the UK.
So on a coach load of people just a £1 tip will virtually double their money. IT's not really necessary to give more than that.
