Munich Palace Hotel, Bogenhausen District?

Is anyone familiar with the Munich Palace Hotel in the Bogenhausen district? I stumbled on their website. It looks lovely and I'm thinking of trying it out on my next visit to Munich this June. Any feedback on location, rooms and so on would be appreciated. Thanks

I have not stayed at the hotel, but am I bit leery of the superlatives mentioned in the description, especially regarding its location. It is located in Bogenhausen, but not in the nicest part of it. It is quite a ways from the Englisher Garten, and some of the other location references are a bit of a stretch as well. It is on the opposite side of the Isar River from the city center. There are other luxury hotels in Munich that have a far mre convenient location and are well known: The Vier Jahreszeiten, The Bayerischer Hof, to name just two.

I'm inclined to agree with you. It seems almost too good to be true. Also, I'm a little concerned about distance to the U, lack of air con in rooms and the cost of internet-- 10 euros per hr!

I think the location is great! Around the corner of "Käfer", nice if you like the food there. However, I saw it is run by Kuffler...so it might promise more than it can keep? They do a lot of "self-service - Gastronomie"..eg the asian self service and hofbräu at mubich airport (eww). Also the "seehaus" in the English Garden.

My favourite hotel is the cortiina, it is run by the same people taht do the "brenner" near the opera.

They just opened a new one at Viktualienmarkt, it is called Louis..but the cortiina is a classic.

I took a look at the Munich Palace when I was there. I liked the atmosphere-- friendly, tranquil and refined. It is true that it is a bit out of the way but there is very easy access to the center by tram in about 10-minutes.

I saw a couple of the deluxe rooms. They were comfortable, not extraordinary. The best part, if the weather is nice, is all in that category had access to the outside via garden access or a balconey.

At the right rate, at the right time of year (there's no air con in the rooms), I'd give it a try. Would I pay 5* rates? No!

The Palace received some really good reviews when it opened. I like the location myself. I wouldn't hesitate staying there if the prices were right.
