munich hotels

We are traveling to Munich at the end of June, for 4 or 5 nights, and are looking for hotel suggestions... I'm doing my best to stay away from international hotel chains but we do like our creature comforts. We are looking in the moderate price range- not any more then 180 USD.. Any suggestions for hotels or neighborhoods would be so helpful--thanks!

I've stayed at the Mercure Hotel Muenchen City Center, it's really close to the central train station and less than 10 minute walk to the city center. The rooms are very nice for European standards, meaning they're a good size and very clean!

Priceline is a great tool for Munich. Three times I have "won" the Le Meridien for under 150 USD a night and the Marriott Courtyard is often reported at under 70 USD per night.

betterbidding.com is a great resource to educate yourself on the process.

We have stayed at the Le Meridien with points and dollars. Lovely hotel. Plus very easy to take the train from the airport, almost to the 'front door'. Perhaps a few hundred yards once outside the terminal. Richard

The Hotel Uhland is a lovely B&B in an historic mansion, in a lovely neighborhood.

We enjoyed the Hotel Laimerhof, which is near the Nymphenberg palace - outside of the city center, but very good tram and S-Bahn connection. The hotel was comfortable, the people are nice, the the breakfast and coffee are good. Plus, you are near the Hirschgarten, which has a great beer garden.

I got a great rate at the Sofitel on booking.com. Right next to Le Meridan. Looking forward to my trip!
