Hotel in Munich?

I am looking for advice on hotels in Muncih. We'll be spending probably 2-3 nights there. We are looking for a mid-range comfortable place to stay. We usually pay around $100-$120 for hotels in the US, but are happy to find things cheaper. We aren't looking for a hostel, but we aren't looking for the "Ritz" either.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Jessica

snowcraig - We have just returned from Munich three weeks ago and it was our first time there so I went through dozens and dozens of hotels before I picked the Hotel Meier.
It's in a quiet pedestrianised street loaded with coffee bars & eating places. The main reason it won my approval was because we were arriving by train from Paris and leaving again the next evening by underground train to the airport.
The station for both is across the road.

We walked to the Marianplatz and took the U to The English gardens where we had a fabulous Sunday drinking beer, eating German food and listening to the Oompah band which played from inside the Chinese Pagoda.

Hotel Meier's rate was 120euros for a double en suite and included a fabulous breakfast.

Hi Jessica,

The last time I was in Munich I stayed in The Courtyard by Marriott. We got it on Priceline for $55 a night + tax. The rooms were nice and big - the beds comfy. It is only two blocks from the Hauptbanhof. If you're not afraid of Priceline, give it a try.

Another hotel near the bahnhof would be The Torbrau, which has lots of positive feedback. We really like the Platzl because of its location closer to the Marienplatz.

We like Hotel Uhland www.hotel-uhland.de, doubles from around $123 including a nice breakfast. It's walking distance to the bahnhof and Marienplatz and there is a metro about three blocks away. The hotel is highly rated on www.tripadvisor.com.

I second the Hotel Blauer Bock. We went there 2 years ago and booked again for this year. As Gary mentioned, it's a great location.

Hotel Ludwig. Opposite the train station. Tourist class hotel. Pvt bath, breakfast daily, clean, great staff. Good location. Review web site for specifics and check tripadvisor.com for additional reviews.

I would check out 1800hotels.com! I've read great reviews! You can call 1 800 468 3573 and an agent will discuss your plans with you personally. They're really helpful and it's a great customer service in general!
